As part of this service, we are also able to offer Starter Packs to clients in need as they take on their tenancies: packs of essential items for those who need it the most, for example, cutlery, crockery, bedding and bed linen. People who need these packs have nothing - they may be fleeing domestic violence, leaving care or supported accommodation, or have lost their belongings through becoming homeless.
Plymouth Resettlement |
Path and Reestart are now working in partnership to use shared houses to accommodate people who are single and homeless. The scheme is for people able and wanting to live in the community, who need somewhere in the short term. There is some support provided and people are expected to move on, typically, by the end of 3-6 months.
Path sees single homeless people all the time, helping them look at their housing options. In some cases what people need is somewhere temporary, giving some stability while they find and prepare for somewhere longer term. This scheme offers that kind of temporary accommodation. |

How does it work? |
Reestart provides and runs some of the houses and Path the others, each acting as the landlord but working together. We therefore give people license agreements, charge a contribution towards bills and monitor the houses. Both organisations visit the houses every week, checking in with residents and making sure that people are safe.
It is expected that residents will have commitments and / or activities that they are engaged in. That might include job-seeking, volunteering or a training scheme. Our aim is to help people have a home and some stability while they work out their options. We then provide help to move on. |
